Mauna Loa Volcano Eruption Big Island of Hawaii
Hawaii Development Group remains vigilant in the on-going development of our Big Island of Hawaii’s natural resources throughout our communities here and want to always ensure we are providing accurate and timely information to our clients. Recently, the Mauna Loa mountain, a dormant volcano, on Hawaii began erupting for the first time since 1984.
As many know, Hawaii island remains to be the youngest of the islands in the Hawaiian archipelago and the island’s beauty is currently expanding through the Kīlauea mountain as many are aware through the Volcanoes National Park located in the Volcano region of the island.
Many of Our Clients, Whether They Are Developers or Property Owners/buyers, Have Reached Out to Many of Our Agents as to How a New Volcanic Eruption Will Impact Their Property
As a native Hawaiian owned company, HDG understands the concerns and the importance of providing adequate and accurate information for our clients wanting to do a Hawaii real estate property search or a Hawaii-based development and we like to provide the following information to our clientele at large to ensure safety, awareness and reduce any potential concern as best can be.
Although our company highlights spectacular service for our Hawaii real estate clients, we try to ensure the proper direction as to where our clients and the community itself may seek the correct information as to the Mauna Loa lava flow. Although we may be incredible experts and advisors on all things Hawaii real estate, we are not volcanologists and like to leave the information available to the public to the experts in that profession, out of respect.
As of Tuesday, November 29, 2022 there are no current community threats or high concerns absent air quality as the eruption is an on-going venture. We want to ensure to all of our clients that any impacted community or property will be alerted as soon as possible by local county and state authorities to ensure the safety of not only the residents, but for the community as this may affect resources.
As we all know, Hawaii’s beauty extends much further than just our real estate profession, it extends to the unanticipated conditions we experience as island residents in the middle of the Pacific and when natural and climate disasters do happen – that is where one witnesses the true version of the aloha spirit. In Hawaii real estate, we try to explain the uncertainties that may occur and the one way we console our Ohana and clients is always through explaining that because we live on one of the most isolated land masses in the world, we depend on one another for comfort and care when we need it.
Hawaii is much more than beautiful landscapes, growing islands through expansive lava flows and a culture that has embraced the natural environment of Hawaii for centuries – it’s the people who make Hawaii what it truly is. When events such as the lava flow atop Mauna Loa impact communities, families will assist other families in unimaginable ways because we were taught to always Kōkua, or assist each other because we never know when our households will need helping as well.
The lava flow on Mauna Loa creates a larger discussion we love to foster at HDG with our agents and clients about the cultural significance of what the lava meant to our native Hawaiian ancestors and the Local community itself. Lava, although potentially destructive to the surrounding environment, serves a larger purpose in Hawaiian culture and the land beneath all of Hawaii real estate – it creates new opportunity and native Hawaiian lore captivates that through every story linking the present to the past.
Not only is Mauna Loa currently erupting, but for the first time in decades, Mauna Loa’s sister mountain, Mauna Kea also is snow-capped due to recent storms. This mixture of fire and ice captivates how beautiful the Big Island of Hawaii truly is to witness such forces of nature intertwine to create a perspective as to the diversity of not just Hawaii real estate, but also the beauty of why so many of us call Hawaii home.
We encourage all of our clients and their Ohana to stay in tune with the media outlets provided from local county and state authorities for updates on the growing situation of the Mauna Loa eruption. Remaining safe, aware and vigilant of changing conditions is just another part of the lifestyle we foster here on the Big Island of Hawaii and the willingness to help one another is another facet to the beauty of living in Hawaii.
The glow of the evening sky is just another remarkable way we celebrate our past history as native Hawaiians, the orange warmth reminds of how our environment is always the true authority in charge and we rest assured that everything in its time works for the greater good of our island home.
Please review the County of Hawaii’s platforms for the changing situation and any and all local media outlets for the best coverage on the evolution of the Mauna Loa eruption. Please continue to
connect with any of our HDG Ohana on ways we can advise further on anything Hawaii real estate based and we are more than happy to connect with you! We look forward to watching the new opportunities this lava flow will provide and we know as a community and global network, the presence of a new volcanic eruption is part of who we are as both residents and native Hawaiians of the Big Island of Hawaii.
